What is facial acupuncture?

It is a unique style of acupuncture on the face with the goals of reducing fine lines and wrinkles, brightening the undereye area, gently lifting and sculpting the cheeks and jawline, and giving the skin a fresh glow. It is a natural, noninvasive technique (nonsurgical) that uses the wisdom of East Asian Medicine (Traditional Chinese Medicine/ TCM) to balance the body and improve skin health.

How does facial acupuncture work?

It is the insertion of tiny needles into the dermis of the skin which is considered a “microtrauma” and in response, the body’s natural healing mechanism is to increase blood flow and immune cells to the area.

Along with increased blood flow there is also an increase in oxygen and nutrients that the skin requires to heal – giving the skin a healthy glow. In addition, to this healing process – the body sends protein to fill in and restructure the area which is collagen. This can give the skin a more lifted, smoother appearance.

Facial acupuncture also includes specialized techniques for tightening superficial muscles of the face. While helping to tighten these muscles can lead to a lifted and more sculpted facial appearance.
